Fair Oaks Village Parking Project Updatein Updates
Back in September we began collaborating with the Fair Oaks Park District to help each other bring the most value to our community. While providing parking for the park is simply one aspect of the issues, the Park District is working towards we feel we can each help the other bring the most value to our community.
In the last few months FOVEC has been focused on gathering community support for this project.
To that end presentations, have been made to local organizations (e.g. Chamber of Commerce, Woman's Thursday Club, Fair Oaks Rotary, Water District, and the Fair Oaks Historical Society) requesting they agree to provide letters of support for this project. They have gladly agreed to do that. The letters of support will be submitted with our application for grant funds package.
The initial grant application will be to fund a Parking Master plan that can serve as a framework for the construction projects that will follow. During the month of May, grant applications will become available for the two grants we will be going after, namely the TOT (Transient Occupancy Tax) grant and the SACOG (Sacramento Area of Council of Governments) grant.
Our focus during the next months will then shift to scripting the application narrative. While many folks would like to focus on very specific solutions, at this time we feel that it is too early for that. Understanding the different aspects of the parking problem and representing them on a large scale will help us provide a better solution for the long term and help us create an overall framework. Specific parking projects that include design, implementation and construction can then be derived from the framework. The grant applications are due in June and July respectively.
