Spotlight on Biker Bar Cafe

Updated: Oct 3, 2021

New Business at 10136 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Fair Oaks Village, a Place for Tune-ups, Cycling Merch, and Locally Sourced Food and Beverage

We're pleased to introduce Alli Martinez and Adamen Hannaford of Biker Bar Cafe in our Business Spotlight Series.

We're spotlighting various merchants in the Fair Oaks Village, as well as individuals who support what FOVEC does, all while giving you a little insight into our history and what we do for the Village. We encourage you to share these local stories and visit with merchants to get to know them firsthand.

We connected with Alli to learn more about the opening of and what's to come for their new business, Biker Bar Cafe.

Tell us about your business. When did you open? What was the main motivation for starting your business?

Biker Bar had its soft opening on Sept. 1, 2020. The bike shop is fully open and stocked with new human-powered bikes and E-Bikes, parts, and accessories, as well as accepting services. Rental bikes are coming soon and the cafe is in the works, with a hopeful grand opening in spring 2021.

Adamen has worked in local bike shops for the past 23 years from Santa Rosa to Sacramento. Allison has five years in the food industry and has worked for the last three years as a health coach. Together, their love of cycling and all things active combined with a vegetarian health food obsession and dedication to a healthy lifestyle (with beer of course!) lead to the creation of the all things bike, vegetarian comfort food, and local craft beer and wine hub known as Biker Bar.

What's something you wish people knew about your business?

We're in business to serve the community.

Our aim is to create something that will encourage more people to get outside, to eat whole foods, and to connect with each other through physical activity.

Personally speaking, what is your favorite thing about your business?

We love being a part of Fair Oaks Village.

The community has been exceedingly welcoming and we love our new friends and neighbors.

What is a common question you get? Your answer to it?

What will you serve?' Locally sourced beer and wine will be on the menu (and mimosas!), vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner options, specialty coffee, and grab and go items to take on your ride.

What's the biggest compliment you've received about your business?

We've had a lot of people say that Fair Oaks Village really needs the diversity that our business is bringing to the table, and that feels great.

What is your most popular dish, item, service? And, personally, what is your favorite?

All of our tune-up packages are popular, but our favorite part of what we do is seeing someone's excitement over finding their new bike and taking it home.

Are you involved with or do you support any local nonprofits, community organizations or causes?

We've contributed to local rotary auctions, and we're more than happy to post flyers in our windows supporting local organizations and events.

Why did you choose to be in Fair Oaks? Why is this city important to you?

Our location is so close to the bike path, and without any major cross streets in the way. Ad lived in Fair Oaks for 15 years and got to know the community well, so when the opportunity appeared to occupy the old Hardware Store, we jumped on it.

Do you have any upcoming events, specials or new items/services that people should know about?

We have lots of cold weather clothing and gear on sale right now, and we recently launched group rides on the weekends that have been a lot of fun.

How has COVID-19 impacted your business? Did you do anything special given the circumstances?

It led to us opening a little later in the year than we had intended, but otherwise, people are out riding bikes now more than ever and we are happy to be open to serve the riding community.

We are following COVID guidelines with masks, social distancing, and sterilization, and thankfully bike riding naturally follows social distancing rules for the most part.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Our first two months in business have been really fun and we are so thankful for the warm welcome we have received. We hope to be a part of the Village for many years to come.
