FOUNDERS MEMORIAL

From Bob Sours, President, Curator/Docent Fair Oaks Historical Society

I keep looking at the "FOUNDERS MEMORIAL". It is so well done, and a joy to see, but one MUST be within the bounds of the memorial itself to get the benefit of what it is and meant to be. MEANING, it doesn't stand out from any direction. From one side it's parked cars, from another is weeds, and from the third side traffic coming around the corner is a safety hazard - so no view is made.

The curve next to the "Town House” needs to be ELIMINATED, and a safe walkway to the monument needs to be there. Traffic can still get around both ways from the NW side. It just would take a car a little longer (maybe two minutes) - but the benefit might be that it would deter people using that corner around the triangle …

Treasure Hunt Winners

ree

On October 6th, in partnership with the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District we hosted the first Fall in the Village. The Wednesday evening event in Old Fair Oaks Village featured a live concert in Plaza Park featuring the popular dance band Four Barrel and a "treasure hunt" featuring local restaurants and shops.

We had between three and four hundred people visit, with about a hundred participating in the treasure hunt. Each contestant was given a card listing participating merchants and sent off to collect as many stickers as possible before the concert's end.

We want to congratulate the Treasure Hunt winners:

1st - $100 - Robin Romero
