After over 40 years of providing quality community theatre to the Sacramento area, the Fair Oaks Theatre board has made the difficult, but necessary decision to dissolve FOTF.

The theatre festival was founded by a group of local businesses and community leaders that recognized the value of the little-used Veterans Memorial Amphitheater.The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival was soon to become a yearly tradition and a respected community theatre.

When Wendell and Lois Frazier, the original founders, began FOTF it was their vision to be primarily Shakespeare and it was to provide quality theatre, mentoring, educational, cultural,

and performing arts opportunities for theatre students, local actors, and the community. Their mission was continued by Tony and Barbara Sestito, past presidents and responsible for the original upgrades to amphitheater.

Back in November 2018, voters in the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District (FORPD) approved Measure J, a $26.9 million General Obligation Bond to fund major park improvements and expanded services.

🚧 Construction was originally set to begin in early 2021 and expected to take 18–24 months.⏳ Fast forward to today—nearly seven years later—and the park is still not open.

At the July 16th FORPD Board meeting, we learned:

• An inspection failure has caused yet another delay.

• New, unknown costs are expected.

• The Board also approved substantial fee increases.
