Friends of Sailor Bar Update
Please see the message below from our Stewards team leader Deb Kemp about the weekly INVASION OF INVASIVE PLANT INVASION THISTLE REMOVAL PROJECT AT SAILOR BAR tomorrow from 8:30 - 10:30. The Sacramento County Regional Parks is providing complimentary daily parking permits for those that want to help. Even if you are not interested (or not able to help with this project you can help by tracking the native species at Sailor Bar (and all along the parkway). Did you know that Sailor Bar hosts over 500 Native Species and over 180 Native Plant species. Check out the picture of the unusual plant sighting at Sailor Bar and the video below.
ALSO, please see the flyer attached at the very bottom of this email about the Saturday, June 13th Family Health and Wellness Day at Sailor Bar. Each month the Friends of Sailor Bar and The Sacramento County Regional Parks are hosting unique, fun and educational events for the community at Sailor Bar. Thanks to the Parks Maintenance team we now have a green waste dumpster at Sailor Bar and there will soon be a drinking fountain for Fido and her human.

Hi everyone,
Thank you all so much for attending our first event last Saturday at Sailor Bar Park! It was great to have so many people, and we got so much work done! Huge thanks to all of you!
Here is your invitation to join us again this Saturday, same time, same place!
8:30am-10:30am, Saturday, June 6th; 8266 Olive Ave, Fair Oaks, CA
Please wear sturdy shoes, bring gloves and tools if you have them (we will have some available as well), and water. And excitingly, the County has installed a green waste dumpster at the park for us!
Big thank you to the iNaturalist Ambassadors for their demo last week! If you'd like to visit our iNaturalist project, here is the link. Any observations uploaded in the park will be added to the project. As of today, over 500 native species have been observed at Sailor Bar on iNaturalist, including over 180 native plant species! We even have 9 endemic species, including the very charismatic California Dutchman's Pipe (Aristolochia californica, pictured below)!
