Fair Oaks Village Park Update: What Have We Learned?
Back in November 2018, voters in the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District (FORPD) approved Measure J, a $26.9 million General Obligation Bond to fund major park improvements and expanded services.
🚧 Construction was originally set to begin in early 2021 and expected to take 18–24 months.⏳ Fast forward to today—nearly seven years later—and the park is still not open.
At the July 16th FORPD Board meeting, we learned:
An inspection failure has caused yet another delay.
New, unknown costs are expected.
The Board also approved substantial fee increases.
And they’re considering expanding their authority over community events through a new foundation.
As neighbors and stakeholders, we need to ask:💬 What lessons should we take from this process?🤝 How can we ensure better outcomes in the future?
We’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment below and let’s talk about the future of Fair Oaks.
