I am happy to report that last night the Fair Oaks CPAC voted to recommend the Starbucks proposal be rejected. My thanks to the many residents and business owners who attended the meeting to voice their opinions, which clearly resonated with the CPAC Board members. There were many reasons cited for rejecting this proposal but ultimately the key factor cited was the dangerous traffic issues created by the addition of hundreds of cars per day to the Village.

Gala 2022 - Huge Success Thank you all for helping us make our gala a HUGE success! There were so many highlights to the evening. Assembly Member Ken Cooley stopped by to show his support, Bay Area Lyme Foundation shared with us the amazing research they are conducting & two very special Lyme patients shared with us their heartfelt journey with the disease. The evening was full of laughter, smiles, a few tears, & amazing supporters. We ended the evening dancing to the Brisco County band.. what a wonderful night! Again we thank you all for your support! Because FOVEC works closely with the County on issues like this, we know the most potent tool is direct citizen feedback. I am happy to report that Cheryl Firenze agreed to take on the role of Membership Chair last year. However, as our membership continues to grow, the need for other volunteers to help build a Membership Subcommittee has grown. Joining is a great way to get to know your neighbors, help the community and have a little fun. Just let. Cheryl or I know if you are interested in helping welcome people to FOVEC and matching them to the many needs in our community!

Tori, Your survey response was received after we had posted the results above (along with 8 others). The only responses that were "invalidated" were duplicate entries or responses with bad email addresses. I don't have the time to do another full report but of the additional (unvalidated) responses received were: 3 - It is the best use for this space in the Village 1 - It is a good use of this space while Covid is still an issue 4 - It is a poor use of this space and should be removed asap 1 - It would have been a good idea a year ago, but not now

If you build it, they will come may work for a field of dreams, but given people's busy lives, you need to remind them regularly if you want them to come to visit. FOVEC has an ever-growing social media audience and over 500 email subscribers. Please help get the word to our local merchants that we are stronger when we work together to promote each other and the Village.

How do we make the best use of our membership in the Fair Oaks Chamber? For example, should we bring forward needs or issues from Village merchants who are not Chamber members? Should we rotate Board Members' participation at Chamber meetings and events? Note we probably should have this conversation regarding FOCAP as well.

My thanks to Barbara for pointing out the 2019 map posted above is out of date and that the Deli is designated as Aid Station #5 on the latest interactive map! I hope many of you will come out early on Sunday morning December 5th to cheer the runners on as they pass through the village!

This year, we are probably too late to be listed as an official CIM viewing spot, but that doesn't mean we can't practice for next year! If we all help spread the word, I'll bet we can get a few hundred people to join us in Old Fair Oaks Village to cheer the runners on. Maybe call it the 1st Annual Village CIM Watch Party? Hopefully, some of the businesses will open for coffee and breakfast foods, and if not live music this year, we should at least be able to set up a portable sound system?
